ETC offers different courses for students with PR or citizenship. Most of them are FREE  Our courses for residents are fully or partly funded by the New Zealand Government.

ILN 100 (Intensive Literacy and Numeracy)

These 100 hour programmes are designed for beginner to intermediate English level students wanting to start their English language learning journey. They are also suitable for native English speakers who have low levels of literacy and numeracy. As the programmes are funded by the New Zealand Government there are some special requirements. Students must;

  • Complete 100 hours of literacy and numeracy learning within 5 to 20 weeks.
  • be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand

  • have low skill levels in literacy and/or numeracy as assessed by the TEO
  • have less than 80 credits on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF); or
  • if you have more than 80 credits on the NZQF, but you have less than 12 credits in literacy and/or numeracy unit standards/achievement standards

ILN ESOL 200 (Intensive Literacy & Numeracy)

These 200 hour programmes are designed for beginner to intermediate ESOL students wanting to start their English language learning journey. As the programmes are funded by the New Zealand Government there are some special requirements. Students must;

  • complete 200 hours of literacy and numeracy learning within 10 to 26 weeks.
  • be a refugee (includes a protected person and people sponsored by a refugee or protected person)
  • be a migrant
  • be a person for whom English is his or her second language
  • be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
  • be 16 years and over
  • have low English language and/or literacy skills
  • have less than 80 credits on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF); or
  • if you have more than 80 credits on the NZQF, but you have less than 12 credits in literacy and/or numeracy unit standards/achievement standards.
