Hiroko
Yakuwa from Japan - Teacher for 30 years)
Everybody,
come to ETC and enjoy learning English
I
was so happy that I could learn English at ETC. Before I
came here, I had been told to get six points in the IELTS
test so I could be accepted as a full time student at Bible
College. I didn't know what the IELTS test was like, and
I went to British Council in Osaka where I like to get the
materials for the IELTS test. I realised how far it was
that I could score 6 points in the test. I almost felt like
giving up to sit for the test. Then I felt a faint voice
whispering, "Don't abandon your desire before trying
to challenge".
To tell the truth, it shocked me to know that I had to admit
that my English is insufficient though I taught English
to junior high students privately for thirty years. My teaching
method of English was based on basic grammar, reading and
composition.
ETC is much better in every aspect such as the staff, teaching
methods and student's motivations than I expected. 'Seeing
is believing'. My teacher, Marie, seems to be a tutor by
nature. she knows each of us well, and spares no effort
to bring our potential abilities out. I realised that all
the staff are well qualified and can give each of us how
to overcome our weak points. The principal, John seems to
be thinking of the students and his staff all the time.
I want to emphasize that anyone surely makes dramatic progress
in English as long as a person has a will to follow what
teachers say. I am an eye-witness for it. 'Seeing is believing".
I can learn many things from ETC, and I feel happy with
the thought that I could take the IELTS test with less anxiety.
The students here are all polite and eartnest in learn English.
It's easy for us to make friends from different countries
at ETC. Whenever we meet, we say "Hello or Hi"
and we exchange useful information each other. I strongly
recommend you to come to ETC if you are wavering where to
go to learn English. I'm sixty years old, but my mental
age is the same with the students in their late teens or
early twenties. Hiroko

Zahraa from Iraq

Studying in New Zealand at ETC Learning Centre
was highly beneficial. They not only taught me proper English
grammar, but I also learnt about multicultural diversity.
Asian, Arabic, Pacific Island, Maori and Kiwi cultures. My
friends tell me I am more open minded and flexible in character.
The food in New Zealand is healthy. There
is lots of variety, for example I can choose from many different
kinds of milk, low fat, trim, homogenised, normal and full
cream.

I've
really enjoyed myself in New Zealand, especially in Palmerston
North.
I like the country because it has beautiful nature and
I had such a wonderful experience. Also one thing I won't
forget about ETC is the good teacher, perfect education and
lovely atmosphere which helped me adapt quickly to the Kiwi
lifestyle.
So I suggest if international students want to attend language
schools ETC is one of the best language schools in New Zealand
so its not a mistake if you attend ETC.

Qiang
CHEN from China
New
Zealand is a fascinating place. Everything here is so
different from China. I live in Palmerston North which
is a small city. I have been here for almost two months
and so far I am having a fantastic time.
Palmerston
North has the friendliest people and good food. We had a cooking
course in language school and our teacher taught us how to
make some western food called ‘potato bake’.
This dish has few ingredients but I think it is very delicious
and interesting because I haven't eaten much western food
in China.
This
is a very interesting city and I love my new school.

Kodai from Japan
This memory
is a local story. I’ve been staying here in Palmerston
North for about 3 weeks. I’m enjoying “Palmy”
life so much. Everywhere and everything is so fresh
in my mind.
One day
I went shopping in town to buy warm shoes with my host mother.
We went to a souvenir shop. There were so many sheepskin
shoes in that shop. My host mother said, “If you put
on these shoes in winter, your feet will stay warm.”
My legs get so cold because of my disability, being in a wheelchair. The
shop staff asked me “What kind of shoes do you need?
If you want, I’ll make them specially for you.”
I thought “Wow, what an amazing New Zealand”.
In my home country of Japan I have never heard of such a shop.
The shop staff worried about my legs and I’m very thankful
to him.
Now
I always put on my special sheepskin shoes everyday, wearing
them everywhere.

Krisade Techamanoon
from Thailand
I studied
at ETC, New Zealand. I loved it there because ETC's teachers
are very kind and teach well. They are interested in the
student's problems. I liked horse riding and going to see
the snow on the mountain.

I like
canoeing. I went canoeing with my teacher and classmates from
ETC Learning Centre. I was very happy when I saw the
river, ducks and canoes surrounded by lots of trees and people.
I enjoyed myself very much canoeing in the river with everyone,
it was fun.
